Some advices for golf beginners Learn to choose your golf equipments

"He's got a $1, 000 bag and a $10 game." This phrase has clearly described the situation for a beginner to buy golf stuff. And then what is the point?

There is no need for you to spend a great large sum of money on golf stuff in the beginning, but when you know how to play golf, and then here goes. Golf is an expensive game. You'll have plenty of time down the cart path to buy top-notch clubs.

As a beginner, though, it's in your best interest to be thrifty. Manufacturers such as Wilson, Dunlop, Ram, Knight and many others make quality golf sets that can be had for less than $150. Big-box retailers - Wal-Mart, Kmart and others - often carry bargain club sets.

Another option: garage sales or yard sales. Don't knock it - many experienced golfers buy a new set on a yearly basis, so you might get a great deal on a set that cost somebody else many hundreds of dollars.

Have a coach for you

There is a good way for you to learn quickly as possible, at the same time you can have a lot of money saved, yes, a golf academy is the choice. Most major metropolitan areas have at least one good golf school, and most major golf schools offer lodging packages for those willing to travel.

For most, though, the choice should be weekly lessons with a local pro. Most pros are available for lessons. The rate depends on the course the pro is affiliated with and the time allotment. But many pros offer sessions for as little as $30 for a lesson ranging from 30 minutes to an hour.

Find a place to practice

First recommendation for you is the driving range; most driving ranges also have practice putting greens. Some also feature practice chipping areas and sand bunkers. The point is this, you can hit a bucket of ball and no need to pay attention to what others say even if you really shots are terrible.

Your back yard is another good place to practice a swing, although you obviously don't want to be hitting real golf balls. Try a waffle golf ball, or just work on the swing mechanics you've been learning during lessons. By the way, you living room, if it is large enough, of course you can also made to order for putting practice.

Have a golf course for beginners

Here we recommendation par-3 courses, these are generally nine holes, all short par-3s. Executive courses are also shorter than full-sized 18-hole courses. If you want to try 18 holes on a full-sized course, ask some golfers you know for recommendations. You want courses that are not too lengthy and that don't have much sand or water. You want a wide open, easy course. Of course, we all want to give the public a good performance, so we really do not like others find out that we had a sorrow ball hitting. So find a golf course which is not full of players is the best.

Southwest, to find the best.

Is this selfish????????? (Answers: 5) (Comments: 0)
My partner and I had a baby 6 months ago. We got $5000 off the government (baby bonus) which we actually get just under $400 a f/n for about 6 months (the last payment is due soon). We needed to get a bigger car because we have 3 kids now and the old car was too small. We had already saved about $3000 of our own money and used another $1000 from the baby bonus to put towards a car (a car which we NEED). After we got a car my partner went out and bought some golf clubs (he spend about $600) and he also said we needed a new tv so spent another $2000 on that (our old tv had a split in the middle of the screen but it still worked). I told him we don't need a new tv just now and there is other stuff we NEED to get, the tv could wait. We already have everything for the baby cos we have 2 other kids so we really didn't need to get anything else but I was hoping to use the money ($4000 minus the $1000 we put towards the car) on doing the house up. Fixing the backyard, getting airconditioning installed (it's Summer here in Australia), but now we can't cos he bought golf stuff and a tv. He said he got golf stuff cos I got a car (and it's not even a new car, it's a used one) but the difference is we NEED the car. He doesn't have his license, he's never had it but it's still a family car, a car big enough so all of us can fit. Do you think he was being selfish in getting golf stuff and a new tv? I don't really care about tvs. I am happy to just have a small cheap tv anyway and was happy to just keep watching/using the one we had even though there was a split in the screen it still works fine. I am annoyed that we had a good amount of money and could have used it to fix things around the house, maybe even put a little bit away for the kids. What are your thoughts? He also got an entertainment unit for the tv to go on which cost about $1500. By the way, we didn't have a baby to get money so please dont think that. I am just annoyed that he got all this stuff which we don't need right now when we could have used the money to fix things around the house and maybe put some money away for the kids. I am glad everyone agrees with me so far. I did mention using some of the money for driving lessons too but he is not interested in getting his license at all.
